REPRESENTATION

physical encoding of semantic component

A region set may carry multiple physically present variants of one identity; a profile selects a present variant — selection, not conversion.

Every copy lives beside its original as a named variant with its fidelity recorded against the source at extraction. Selecting an absent variant fails closed before any byte is read. New variants arrive as incremental packs beside the baseline — adding a representation costs the pack's bytes, not the container's.
